I was born at Mill Road Maternity Hospital in Cambridge in 1973 and lived in Cherry Hinton.  I went to Cherry Hinton Infant School and Cherry Hinton Community Junior School.  My secondary school education was at Netherhall.  Once I had done my GCSEs I went to Cambridge Regional College and did a secretarial course for 2 years during which time I took exams in typing, word processing and shorthand.  In 1992 I started work at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge as a secretary and over the years have worked in various departments.

In 1985 I learnt to ring Church Bells at St Andrews, Cherry Hinton where I rang regularly.  I also used to ring at Duxford on a regular basis.  Whilst ringing at Cherry Hinton and Duxford I met the man who later became my husband.

Andrew proposed to me on my 21st birthday and we got married at Cherry Hinton the following April.  Our bridal party including the bride and groom rang the first touch at the end of our wedding service. Andrew and I now ring at Meldreth, Melbourn, Bassingbourn and Caxton on a regular basis.   We also visit other towers to help them out on their practice nights   I have rung at many towers throughout the country.  I have rung quite a few quarter peals but no full peals as yet!!  That is the way it is going to stay I hope and it did until April 2005 when I rang my first and what I thought was going to be my last peal but in October I rang another peal and I can guarantee that this is definitely going to be the last!

In December 1997 Andrew and I bought our first pet.  It was a blue budgerigar named Percy.  Percy was very reluctant to come out of his cage but when he did he would sit on the top of the curtains.  Percy had a number of favourite places he liked to go to while we were away.  He also made friends with Andrew's parents and Andrew's sisters cockatiels named Peter and Bobby.  Sadly Percy died in November 2000.  He was replaced with a green budgerigar who was named Sammy.  Sammy also likes to sit on top of the curtains.  Sammy has also spent time with Peter and Bobby.  Sammy and Peter both passed away in December 2004.  We now have a budgie called Smudge and Andrew's parents have another cockatiel called Sooty.

In the year 2000 I went on the Essex Ringing Course and had a very enjoyable but hard three days learning Yorkshire Surprise Major.  In 2001 I went on the Essex Ringing Course as a helper.

For Christmas 2000 my mother in law gave me a counted cross stitch kit of the Bells of London.  I had never done anything like this before.  I have since completed many other pictures and learnt how to frame them.  I am now totally addicted to it and have a rather large box of kits waiting to be completed.

One of my other interests is rabbits.  We started with two called Flopsy and Mopsy which we thought were the same sex.  This unfortunately was not the case and we ended up with a litter of 6 kits.  We found new homes for three of them.  Two went to a pub in Teversham and were named Salt and Pepper.  The other stayed in Papworth and was named Stew.  The three we kept were named Benjamin, Half Ear and Roger.  Half Ear got her name because Mopsy bit a small piece out of one of her ears.  Roger died when he was about 6 months old and was replaced with another rabbit by the name of Fluffy.  Mopsy sadly died during the hot spell in 2003.  We then bought another two rabbits who were named Sandy and Thumper.  In June 2004 Fluffy died and in June last year Thumper also passed away.  He was replaced with a guinea pig which we have called Guinness.
